Yin Yoga
Yoga & Pilates Studio Vita
Term Yin Yoga originate from one of the main concepts of Daoism – Yin and Yang (☯️) combined with poses from traditional Hatha Yoga. This concept embodies the duality or balance between two opposite aspects, where Yin is stable, immobile, feminine, and Yang is changing, active, masculine. Yin Yoga is a style that includes yoga poses and asanas with a slow tempo, held for extended periods - 1 to 5 minutes or more. Yin Yoga is an introspective practice that gives us the opportunity to work on calmness, patience, and inner peace as we care for our body from the inside out. This practice can be an excellent way to work on range of motion and flexibility, as it helps to overcome adhesions that tend to form in the body as a result of stress, aging and injuries. Prolonged holding in one pose may sound a little challenging and scary at first, but the benefits of such a practice (especially with consistency) are not only physical; they also teach us to give the body a rest, not to fear being in silence, and can help us let go of the need for control.
