Classical Pilates is a system of controlled exercises aimed at strengthening the so-called 'center' — the deep muscles of the abdomen, the back, and the pelvic floor. The practice follows the principles of concentration, control, precision, fluidity, and synchronized breathing, with each movement having a clearly defined goal and technique. The activity usually includes mat work and a series of exercises arranged so as to gradually activate the stabilizing musculature, improve the mobility of the spine, and develop proper motor patterns. The range of motion is controlled, and the focus is on the quality of execution rather than on the number of repetitions.
